Bail For Sportscaster Don Tollefson Reduced As He Tries To Get Out of Jail

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Defense attorneys for jailed former television sportscaster and Philadelphia media personality Don Tollefson have convinced a Bucks County judge to reduce his bail in an effort to get him released from jail.

The 61-year-old Montgomery County man was taken to prison yesterday after failing to post the required ten percent of his $250,000 bail (see previous story).

That bail has now been reduced to $10,000 cash, and Tollefson must put up his Glenside home as collateral.

Prosecutor Ryan Hyde argued against a bail reduction, saying he's concerned if Tollefson is allowed to walk the streets.

"This is an ongoing theft situation, and I think that he's demonstrated an inability to control himself -- either his addiction or his decision-making.  What I believe his decision-making to be in this case," Hyde said.

Tollefson is facing felony theft charges, accused of selling ticket packages to sporting events such as the Super Bowl and the Kentucky Derby, then failing to produce the goods.

Over three years, prosecutors say, he has at least 100 victims totaling more than $100,000 in fraud.  And investigators say they have received more complaint calls since Tollefson's arrest.
