WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a high school freshman who was seriously injured after she was hit by a car as she crossed a southern New Jersey road over the weekend has died.

Washington Township police say 15-year-old Gavyn Connolly was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital in Camden just after 3 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say the Sicklerville teen was crossing state Route 42 near Greentree Road around 8 p.m. on Saturday when she was hit by a Toyota Yaris being driven by a 21-year-old man.

The driver wasn't injured and hasn't been charged.
