Atlantic City To Start Offering Tram Services

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) -- You think tram cars down the shore and Wildwood instantly comes to mind. Starting next month, Atlantic City will offer a similar service on the boardwalk.
B&B Parking will operate up to five trams that will run up and down the boardwalk starting early next month. Each one carries up to 15 people, according to company Vice President Tim Boland.
"We're going to be stopping in front of the casinos, and other major attractions like the Steel Pier, Caesar's Pier and Boardwalk Hall as well."
It will cost four bucks each way.
Boland's family also owns many of those push chairs, and looks to the trams as another consumer option, not a means to cut jobs.
The company has a two year contract with Atlantic City to operate the trams and will pay at least $126,000 a year.
By the way, the trams will sound off as they make their way, but don't expect anything like "Watch the tramcar, please."
