Atlantic City Casino Revenue Down In August
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Atlantic City gaming numbers for the last full month of summer are in and it looks like the casinos did not have a hot hand. But, the arrows weren't completely pointing down.
Atlantic City gaming revenue in August is down a shade under five percent (4.9) compared to a year ago.
245 million bucks vs. 258 million last year. A big reason for the drop, according to officials, one less weekend this August compared to last.
But online gaming shot up nearly 32 percent last month. Year to date, AC casinos raked in 128 million dollars online.
Joe Weinart with Spectrum Gaming Group says iGaming will continue to grow in New Jersey.
"The good part about this is most of the customers playing are new to Atlantic City."
So, he says, the casinos are adding different people to the market and not just shifting the regulars away from the slots and tables.
