As Winter Storm Looms, Some Still Cleaning Up From Ice Storm That Hit 3 Weeks Ago
GLENSIDE, Pa., (CBS) -- As the winter storm bears down, incredibly, some people are still cleaning up from the ice storm that slammed the region more than three weeks ago.
Bob Marino of Glenside is one of them.
His backyard is still strewn with tree branches and debris from when a large tree toppled and landed on his roof.
Marino recalled, "The limb came through the bedroom. My wife was at the vanity and it came about four feet from her head."
The Marinos replaced their roof but are still waiting to clean up the mess from the February 5th storm.
"We also lost power for 4-5 days then," Marino said.
According to PECO, that was the second most damaging storm in company history with hundreds of thousands of customers losing power throughout the region. Montgomery County was the hardest hit.
Meanwhile, that February storm meant a boost in business for Mike Ludwig, "We've had at least 700-900 calls. So that's a positive but the more important positive is that as far as I know, no one was hurt."
Ludwig of Apple Tree Service of Glenside says while he is doing his best, catching up with Mother Nature has just been impossible.
"We don't have anything on the house, it's all lying in the backyard just please put me on your list. So that's the stuff we're just getting to now to look at and unfortunately again it's going to cover up again with snow," Ludwig explained.
Back at the Marinos, they understand their cleanup will have to wait some more.
"You have your generator and saying a few prayers won't hurt," Marino said.
PECO and Montgomery County officials, in the mean time, say they, too, are prepared for the next round.
