Another Snowstorm, But Not A Backbreaker
By Carol Erickson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Sore backs in the Delaware Valley get a mild stretching exercise today. Yes, more shoveling, especially north and west, but the lifting won't be nearly as heavy as the Valentine Eve storm.
A low pressure system today brings from 2 to 4 inches of snow northwest of Philadelphia and generally 1–3" in the city and the adjacent suburbs. South Jersey towards the shore and Central and Southern Delaware get their snowfall totals cut to less than an inch by rain that precedes any snowfall.
This same storm system will really wind itself into a winter frenzy as it pulls north. Areas of eastern New England will experience near blizzard conditions as the weekend rolls on. We too will find windy conditions tonight as the low departs and high pressure and calmer weather moves in over a sub freezing snowpack.
Enough about snow (oh, if we pick up just half an inch of snow in Philadelphia today, this winter will become the third snowiest on record). Let's talk spring: 32 more days until it starts, 22 days before Daylight Saving time.
By the end of the week, temperatures here reach the middle 50's. In between, a chance of some early snow on Tuesday changing to rain and ending with temperatures in the mid 40's.
Buckle your seat belts...the winter ride isn't over quite yet.
