Analyst: Sandusky Report Damaging To Kane

By Tony Romeo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's been an eventful week for Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane and not in a good way, as one prominent political analyst sees it.

Kane released her long-awaited probe of how the Jerry Sandusky case was handled, and not only did Kane's probe not find evidence of political meddling in the Sandusky case, Kane also made reference to two other young victims of Sandusky who had not been among the ten he was charged with abusing.

This raised the question of whether Sandusky might not have abused them if he'd been charged sooner.

Later, Kane admitted that one of those young men had actually testified against Sandusky. Franklin and Marshall College political analyst Terry Madonna says it was a damaging week for Kane, but not so much because of her misstatements about the two victims:

"I think it's the bigger issue that Governor Corbett was exonerated…that he did not play politics with the Sandusky investigation."

Madonna says the Sandusky issue was key to Kane's campaign.

As for Corbett, Madonna believes the report's findings help him but not much.
