Ameen Hurst Charged With Killing Man Just Released From Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, 3 Other Murders

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are calling a deadly shooting outside the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Northeast Philadelphia a tragic case of mistaken identity. Rodney Hargrove was shot and killed on the prison property about an hour after he was released.

Sixteen-year-old Ameen Hurst has been charged with that murder.

Hurst is also charged with three other murders, including one on Christmas Eve.

Police say Hurst shot 20-year-old Dyewou Nyshawn Scruggs multiple times on the 1800 block of Wynnewood Road.

Police say Hurst was arrested on March 20 and charged with Scruggs' murder.

Police say Hurst was also involved in a deadly quadruple shooting on the 400 block of North 76th Street that occurred on March 11.

That shooting left 24-year-old Naquon Smith and 16-year-old Tamir Brown dead.

Hurst was rearrested and charged for those homicides on Wednesday, April 21.
