8 Injured After Ambulance And Van Collide In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities say they are investigating after an ambulance and van collided in North Philadelphia, injuring eight people.

Officials say the crash happened around 7:45 Monday morning at W. Hunting Park Avenue and Fox Street.

The van and ambulance collided, causing the ambulance to flip on its side.

Authorities say eight people, two EMTs, 1 EMT transport, two adults and three children were injured in the accident.

Officials say all of the injuries are non-life threatening.

Food cart operator, Inam Khan, says he was a witness.

"It was an old lady... She was crying."

Khan says he heard the impact of the crash and he and a group of bystanders went to the wreck scene to try and help.

Deputy Fire Commissioner Jesse Wilson says, "Around 7:39 a.m., one of our medic units was traveling eastbound on Hunting Park Avenue. It was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling northbound on Fox Street."

The victims are expected to be okay.
