About 50 Arrests At St. Patrick's Party Near Pa. University

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — About 50 people were arrested and one sexual assault was reported at a St. Patrick's Day celebration near Indiana University of Pennsylvania in western Pennsylvania.

Officials say this weekend's IU Patty's event was tamer than in its four previous incarnations. Last year, people brawled in the street a few blocks from campus.

University spokeswoman Michelle Fryling says there were no significant reports of injuries or property damage this year. She says most arrests were for underage drinking and public intoxication.

Several people were arrested in a theft at a Sheetz convenience store. A man was charged with biting a security guard who wouldn't let him in the store around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Student groups helped clean up after the celebration.
