A Tale Of Two Days: From Sunshine To Showers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's been a tale of two days as we started out with sunshine and pleasant conditions and will finish on a cloudy, damp note as showers move through the area. It's all thanks to a pesky boundary which has set up shop directly overhead, and disturbances tracking along that boundary will bring showers and storms to the area through the night and especially early tomorrow.
Expect some pockets of steady rain and rumbles of thunder during the Thursday morning commute, with the heaviest falling to the north of Philadelphia. Eventually showers should wind down and we're left with clouds in the afternoon, with highs in the upper 60's.
Friday will finally see the warm front pushing north, putting us into a very warm and moist air mass to the south. We may start the day with fog and perhaps a shower, but with any sun in the afternoon, temperatures will soar into the upper 70's and near 80 degrees. And once we warm up, we'll stay there through the weekend and early next week, with high temperatures around 80 Saturday through Monday. While Saturday looks a bit unsettled, with scattered shower and thunderstorm activity all day, Sunday should clear out, bringing partly sunny conditions just in time for Mother's Day and Race for the Cure.
