A Former Philadelphia School Teacher Narrowly Escapes Attacks In Nice, France
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A school teacher with Philadelphia ties was among those who escaped the attack in Nice, France Thursday night.
Laura Nagle is a French language teacher who lived and worked in Philadelphia for 11 years, before moving to Indianapolis. She has been in Nice, France for a month and was out celebrating Bastille Day with friends.
"People take their whole family to the beach to watch the fireworks. It's something that people do every year," she said.

And she was supposed to be one of them, but because of a scheduling snafu, she was running late.
"All of a sudden, people were screaming and started running into the square."
But never suspected it was an attack.
"I just thought that people were on edge, and that people were just fleeing from something that was pretty minor," Nagle said.
In the aftermath, Nagle said the people of Nice are trying to get back to normal.
"People are very shaken up, because there is also a drive for people not to change their way of life because there are threats."
She will be back in the states at the end of the month.
