Verdict Issued In Fatal Roosevelt Boulevard Crash

By Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Monday a judge issued a verdict in a suspected drag racing accident that killed three children and their mother on the Roosevelt Boulevard nearly two years ago.

Khusen Akhmedov sat motionless as the judge read his verdict – guilty of 4 counts of murder in the 3rd degree, for striking and killing Samara Banks and three of her children.

"He had to no respect for human life. All he cared about was winning a race," said Samara's grandmother.

The other defendant in this case, Ahmen Holloman, plead guilty last week to vehicular homicide and faces 5 to 10 years in prison.

Akhmedov's attorney argued there was no intent to kill the Banks family, but the judge disagreed, pointing to the 24-year-old's history of reckless driving and speeding.

He will be sentenced October 1st.
