40,000 Expected To Turn Out For Philadelphia Folk Festival

SCHWENKSVILLE, Pa. (CBS) --- The fields of Old Pool Farm in Montgomery County are anything but quiet this week as hundreds of volunteers work hard to get that Schwenksville location ready for this weekend's Philadelphia Folk Festival.
Organizers say the transformation of the working hay farm into the oldest running festival of its kind in North America has been nothing short of magical.
Volunteers are carefully going over details dealing with ticketing, parking, medical supplies, as well as food and water and security.
This is the 53rd year for the festival and co-director Lisa Schwartz says it's never the same as they continue to reinvent themselves year after year.
"I like to believe it's good bones. We have great genetics, our founding fathers, you know, they built this on pure chutzpah. It was like, you know what? We can do that."
As many as 40,000 fans are expected to turn out for the event this weekend with sixty musical acts spread across six separate stages.
They include Loudon Wainwright III, Janis Ian, and the headliner, Old Crow Medicine Show.
