3 Arrested for Shoplifting 31 Polo Jackets In N.J.; May Be Philly Smash & Grab Suspects

PHILADELPHIA (WJZ)—Police in New Jersey say they have arrested three Philadelphia men after they shoplifted 31 Polo jackets worth more than $5,000 last weekend.

The suspects were caught on surveillance video stealing dozens of jackets inside the Macy's at the Moorestown Mall on November 13.

The three men were identified as Hasan C. Knight, Louis Mathis and Renaldo Horton, all from Philadelphia. All three are facing shoplifting charges in New Jersey.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department these suspects and another man are also facing charges in the Pennsylvania.

Just after raiding the mall in New Jersey on November 13, city police say the same suspects were observed walking into a Macy's store at 13th & Market heading toward a Polo display.

After leaving the store empty handed, police say they were seen getting into a black 2011 Infiniti QX56 SUV that was believed to be stolen from a dealership in Willow Grove back on November 6.

A day later, on November 14, police say the same men were seen observing the Polo display at the Center City Macy's. City police say the suspects exited the store and drove off in the stolen Infiniti.

On Tuesday, the stolen Infiniti was observed parked in the 3200 block of Turner Street which prompted  an FBI investigation.

As a result, four men, including Knight, Mathis, Horton and Marquis Taylor were arrested on charges of theft receiving stolen property.

The Moorestown police tell CBS 3 they believe these men may also be linked to the Macy's and Boyds smash and grab incidents that occurred here in Philadelphia back in October.

In one instance, the suspects involved got away with 14 watches valued at a total of $16,000 from a Macy's in Northeast Philadelphia.

City police have yet to confirm if the incidents are related at this time.
