PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A warehouse fire in the Kingsessing section of the city temporarily shut down Amtrak travel in the area Sunday night.

The three-alarm fire at 1620 South 49th Street was reported at approximately 6:19 p.m. Sunday. Fire crews got the blaze under control just after 9 p.m. and Amtrak service has resumed. The smoke could be seen for miles.

The two-story building belongs to a waste disposal services company called Gold Medal Environmental.

Officials are still trying to figure out if there are any pollutants in the air that neighbors have to worry about. Neighbors tell Eyewitness News they hear explosions -- up to three of them -- coming from the fire.

It is unclear if the warehouse was occupied, although no injuries have been reported.

Philadelphia Fire Department had asked people to avoid the area as more than 120 firefighters were on scene.
