2 Penn Vet Students Make Forbes' List Of '30 Under 30'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two Penn Vet students have been named to Forbes' list of "30 Under 30" in the healthcare category.

According to the school, Dr. Nikki Wright, 28, and Dr. Lisa Gretebeck, 26, made the list for co-founding an organization that provides sustainable animal husbandry training and resources to families living in rural Haiti.

Called Pou Sante: Amar Haiti, the organization has provided education and training in sustainable goat management as well as improved the health and productivity of the local animal population. In 2012, Gretebeck and Wright earned Penn Vet's Student Inspiration Award and a $10,000 prize to establish the foundation.

Gretebeck, who calls it "an honor" to make the Forbes list, says her experience with Pou Sante: Amar Haiti have helped her to "understand the positive impact" of vets on both animals and humans.

Dr. Joan C. Hendricks, the Gilbert S. Kahn Dean of Veterinary Medicine at Penn, says the students at the school "never cease to amaze" and called Lisa and Nikki "shining examples" of the role vets play in reducing hunger and poverty.
