2 Men Shot – 1 Killed – Near Crowded Playground In Overbrook
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say one man is dead after a double shooting Friday night very close to a playground in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia.
This happened around 6:45 p.m. on the 1900 block of North 60th Street.
Police say a 42-year-old man was shot multiple times, including once in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after.
At least four shell casings were recovered. This happened just outside a playground which was full of dozens of children during the incident.
"We hear gunshots – pop, pop, pop," says Alex Nash. " Next thing you know we're turning around, you know we have our kids playing out here as well so we're frantic, we rush over to make sure the kids are alright."
The victim's 38-year-old brother was also shot once in his hand, in what police are describing as an execution-style shooting. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he is in stable condition.
"Amazingly, no children were killed or shot because the playground was open," says Captain Drew Techner.
The playground was shut down after as police combed the scene for evidence
No arrests have been made, but the getaway car has been recovered. Multiple guns were found in that car.
Police are still looking for at least two men that were masked at the time of the shooting.
