2 Ex-Penn State Rugby Players Get Probation For Shed Arson
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — Two former Penn State rugby players have been sentenced to three years of probation and 200 hours of community service on charges they torched the team's storage shed because they were unhappy with their coach.
A judge Friday also ordered 23-year-old Christopher Petri and 22-year-old Sean Herbert to pay $31,000 in restitution to pay for replacing the shed and its damaged contents.
They were convicted in December on charges of arson, criminal mischief, criminal conspiracy and other offenses.
The university suspended the team for three months to allow for a campus judicial review of the January 2014 fire.
The shed used by the rugby and cross country teams was destroyed.
