1 Dead, 1 Injured After Flames Rip Through 3 Homes In Cobbs Creek

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—A young boy has died after flames rip through three homes in Philadelphia early Friday morning.

It happened around 4 a.m. in the 1200 block of S. Millick Street in the Cobbs Creek section of the city.

"An incredible job by our folks on this very cold and windy night. Unfortunately, it looks like, despite their best efforts, it just wasn't going to be enough to save this young man," said Philadelphia Fire Commissioner, Adam Thiel.

The young boy was found in a second floor back bedroom.

Commissioner Thiel says paramedics also rushed a 39-year-old man who may need treatment for possible burns.

Fire officials say icy conditions and wind complicated firefighting efforts. It took at least an hour to get flames under control.

The American Red Cross is assisting five families displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
