Demoralizing defeat: Eagles blow 4th quarter lead in loss to Seattle Seahawks

The Philadelphia Eagles blew a lead in the fourth quarter and lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 20-17, on Monday night to lose their third straight game. 

Drew Lock's touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba gave the Seahawks the lead late in the fourth quarter. 

The Eagles haven't beat the Seahawks since 2008 and have never beat head coach Pete Caroll.

Jalen Hurts scored two rushing touchdowns in the loss as he played with an illness. 

The Eagles had a chance to put the game away, but Jalen Hurts tossed an interception to Julian Love on a deep pass intended for Quez Watkins. 

Now, Seattle has a chance to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. 

Jalen Carter sacked Drew Lock for a loss of 7 yards, but it wasn't ruled that on the field initially. 

But, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni challenged the play after the replay showed Lock's knee was down before he got rid of the ball. 

The challenge revered the call on the field, which forced the Seahawks to attempt a field goal. 

Jason Myers booted in a 43-yard field goal to make it 17-13, Eagles. A massive break for Philadelphia. 

Rookie linebacker Nolan Smith is questionable to return with a shoulder injury, the Eagles say. 

Smith took a shot to his shoulder on a hit in the third quarter. 

After it looked like he injured his ankle, Johnson came back into the game after only missing one play -- a sigh of relief for the Eagles. 

After a run by D'Andre Swift late in the third quarter, Lane Johnson went down on the play. It's unclear what he injured at this time. 

Johnson jogged off the field and went into the medical tent. He was replaced by backup tackle Jack Driscoll. 

After Seattle tied the game, the Eagles answered with a scoring drive of their own. 

Jalen Hurts scored his second touchdown of the night on the "Brotherly Shove" to give the Eagles a 17-10 lead with 5:22 left in the third quarter. 

Hurts and the Eagles marched down the field in 12 plays in just over five minutes. 

We've got ourselves a game in Seattle. 

Kenneth Walker III scored on a 23-yard rushing touchdown on the first drive of the third quarter to tie the game, 10-10, with 10:05 left in the third quarter. 

The Eagles' poor tackling that's plagued them for the past few weeks was on full display on the Seattle scoring drive. 

Rookie Sydney Brown had Walker in the flat, but didn't finish the tackle, which resulted in a 15-yard gain for the Seahawks running back. 

The Eagles lead the Seahawks, 10-3, on Monday night. It marks the first time they haven't trailed at halftime since Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins.  

Jalen Hurts, who is playing through an illness, scored Philadelphia's only touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run on the first drive of the game. 

Through two quarters, Hurts has completed 9 of his 17 passes for 79 yards and carried the ball seven times for 35 yards. 

D'Andre Swift leads the Eagles in rushing with 36 yards on 10 carries. 

Jake Elliott booted in a 27-yard field goal midway through the second quarter to give the Eagles a 10-0 lead. 

The Seahawks got on the board late in the second quarter thanks to a 26-yard field goal from Jason Myers. 

With Drew Lock starting in place of Geno Smith, the Seahawks haven't done much offensively. They've only moved the ball for 90 total yards through two quarters. 

Jake Elliott booted in a 27-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 10-0 lead with 6:20 left in the second quarter. 

The Eagles had third-and-one from the Seattle 3-yard line, but the officials called a false start on center Jason Kelce, which pushed them back 5 yards. 

Swift gained nothing on third-and-six before Elliott's field goal. 

Everyone knows the play is coming, yet they can't stop it. 

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles converted on their first "Brotherly Shove" of the game on a crucial third-and-one in the second quarter. Hurts gained 2 yards on the play. 

The Birds currently lead Seattle, 7-0.  

After the Eagles' defense forced the Seahawks to go three-and-out, the Birds did the same thing. 

Jalen Hurts tossed two incomplete passes on the second and third down. The pass on third down to Dallas Goedert would've been short of the sticks anyway. 

Philly had third-and-five from their own 17-yard line but a false start penalty on Hurts backed them up 5 yards. 

The Eagles marched down the field in 15 plays and took a 7-0 lead against the Seattle Seahawks after a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Jalen Hurts. 

Hurts, who was listed as questionable with an illness before the game, made several plays on the opening scoring drive that ate up 8 minutes, 29 seconds of clock. 

Hurts completed all five of his passes for 39 yards and rushed twice for 16 yards and the score. 

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Drew Lock will start for the Seahawks Monday night against the Eagles, despite Geno Smith being listed as active. 

Smith was dealing with a groin injury entering the game. 

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will play against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, despite being listed as questionable with an illness.

Hurts was downgraded to questionable on Sunday afternoon and traveled to Seattle separately from the team. He also didn't practice with the team on Saturday afternoon.
