Philadelphia public schools will open on time Monday
Sorry, Philadelphia public school students. You'll have a normal schedule on Monday after the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX over the Chiefs.
The School District of Philadelphia decided to do the same thing they did when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII over the Patriots, which was to have a normal schedule. In 2023 when the Eagles lost, Philadelphia public schools had a two-hour delay.
On Monday, at least six districts or schools in New Jersey will operate on two-hour delays: Cumberland Regional High School, Camden County Technical School District, Gloucester City, Haddon Heights, Washington Township Public Schools and Pennsauken.

Hurts named Super Bowl MVP
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts won Super Bowl LIX MVP after the Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. After a heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl LVII in 2023, Hurts and the Birds got their revenge.
Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception with a 119.7 quarterback rating. He also rushed for a score and recorded 72 yards on 11 carries.

Eagles dominate Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIX
Let the party on Broad Street begin. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX to win the second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
After a heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl LVII in 2023, the Birds got their revenge.
From start to finish, the Eagles' defense gave Patrick Mahomes and the rest of Kansas City's offense problems.
Mahomes threw two interceptions, was sacked 6 times and was under duress constantly by a relentless Eagles pass rush. He also got strip-sacked late in the fourth quarter by Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams, who also had a monster game.
Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean, who was playing on his birthday, made the biggest play of the game.
After Mahomes was sacked by Josh Sweat and Jaylx Hunt, the Chiefs quarterback made a poor decision on third down and DeJean took advantage of it.
DeJean intercepted Mahomes and returned 38 yards for a touchdown to give the Birds a 17-0 lead on a momentum-swinging play, and they never looked back. With the score, he became the first player to score a touchdown on his birthday in the Super Bowl.
Josh Sweat recorded 2.5 sacks, Williams had 2 sacks and Jalyx Hunt had half a sack. Linebacker Zack Baun also picked off Mahomes and continued his incredible play after signing a one year contract last offseason.
Mahomes and the Chiefs were going for the historic three-peat. He gave the Eagles plenty of problems in Super Bowl LVII, but that wasn't the case at all in the rematch two years later. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's unit was ready to play.
Besides the interception early in the first quarter, Jalen Hurts played another great game and made plays with his arm and legs.
Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdown passes along with his interception. He tossed touchdowns to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Smith led the Birds in receiving with four catches for 69 yards, while Brown had three catches for 43 yards.
Hurts also added 72 yards on the ground on 11 carries.
Saquon Barkley was mostly bottled up on the ground. He had 25 carries for 57 yards, but hauled in six catches for 40 yards. He broke Terrell Davis' regular season and postseason rushing record in the first half.
Chiefs score another TD but it's too late
DeAndre Hopkins hauled in a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes late in the fourth quarter to make it 40-14, but they'll need a miracle to come back.
The Birds are about to be Super Bowl champs for the second time ever.
Eagles strip sack Mahomes, take over in KC territory
The Eagles' defense is putting together likely the greatest performance ever against Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs.
Milton Williams strip sacked Mahomes midway through the fourth quarter and recovered the ball to force another Eagles turnover.
The Eagles will now have a chance to add to their massive lead.
Jake Elliott boots in another FG
The Eagles extended their lead after Jake Elliott hit his third goal of the night. This time, he drilled one from 48 yards to give the Birds a 37-6 lead.
Elliott has had his struggles in the 2024 season. but he's been perfect in the Super Bowl. He's made three field goals and drilled every extra point.
The Eagles are 13:37 away from being Super Bowl champs for the second time in franchise history.
Chiefs finally score TD
The Chiefs finally got on the scoreboard late in the third quarter.
Patrick Mahomes tossed a 24-yard touchdown pass to wideout Xavier Worthy to make it a 34-6 game with 34 seconds left in the third quarter.
The Chiefs two-point attempt failed.
DeVonta Smith scores TD, Eagles take commanding 35-0 lead
Devonta Smith hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to give the Eagles a 34-0 lead late in the third quarter.
Smith is playing in his home state of Louisiana. He grew up about an hour from New Orleans in Amite City. He has four catches for 69 yards to go along with his touchdown.
The Eagles' defense got a big down fourth-down stop to set-up the score.
Avonte Maddox broke up a pass from Patrick Mahomes on fourth down to give the Eagles incredible field position.
Jake Elliott hits another FG, Eagles lead 27-0
Jake Elliott hit a 29-yard field goal to give the Birds a commanding 27-0 lead midway through the third quarter against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
The Eagles were driving down the field with some clutch runs by Hurts, but ultimately the drive stalled in the red zone.
Eagles sack Mahomes again
Philadelphia's defense picked up right where they left off in the first half.
On the first drive of the second half, Mahomes was sacked by Jordan Davis.
Kansas City has had zero answers for Philadelphia's defense.
Eagles fans boo Taylor Swift
Pop superstar Taylor Swift is at Super Bowl LIX to cheer on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Much of the apparently pro-Eagles crowd booed Swift when she was shown on the big screen inside the Caesars Superdome during Sunday's game.
The Berks County, Pennsylvania, native was cheered loudly while attending the Super Bowl in Las Vegas last year. The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers that night.

Saquon Barkley breaks Terrell Davis' record
Saquon Barkley didn't get the opportunity to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record, but the Philadelphia Eagles running back did etch his name into the NFL record books on Super Bowl Sunday.
Barkley broke Hall of Fame RB Terrell Davis' single-season and postseason rushing record in the first half of Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Barkley finished the first half with 31 yards on 12 carries.
In his first season with the Eagles, Barkley entered the 2025 Super Bowl 29 yards shy of breaking Davis' record.
Davis set the record in the 1998 season with the Denver Broncos. He ran for 2,476 yards when Denver won its second straight record. He also broke his own record, set in 1997, when he ran for 2,331 yards.

Eagles lead Chiefs at halftime
The Philadelphia Eagles lead the Kansas City Chiefs, 24-0, at halftime in Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Philadelphia's No. 1 ranked defense shut out Patrick Mahomes' and the rest of Kansas City's offense in the first half.
Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean made the play off the first half and intercepted Mahomes to return it for a 38-yard touchdown. The Chiefs only gained one first down in the first half, and that happened on their first offensive play of the game. The Eagles have limited Kansas City to 23 total yards and gotten after Mahomes.
The Eagles have sacked Mahomes three times, which is something they weren't able to do in Super Bowl LVII. Josh Sweat leads the way with 1.5 sacks, Milton Williams has 1 and Jalyx Hunt has a half of a sack.
Mahomes has completed 6 of his 14 passes for 33 yards, along with his two interceptions.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts scored on a rushing touchdown for the first score of the game and tossed one score to wideout A.J. Brown. He's completed 11 of his 15 passes for 123 yards and rushed for 25 yards on eight carries.
Saquon Barkley has had a quiet half against a tough Kansas City rushing defense. He has 31 rushing yards on 12 carries.
A.J. Brown scores TD, Eagles lead 24-0
Not long after Zack Baun's interception, A.J. Brown walked into the end zone on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to give the Eagles a 24-0 lead.
So far, the Super Bowl has been all Eagles.
Zack Baun intercepts Mahomes
The Eagles picked off Patrick Mahomes for the second time of the game in the first quarter.
After the Chiefs stopped Philadelphia's offense, Eagles' All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun intercepted Mahomes to set Philadelphia up on Kansas City's 14-yard line.
The Eagles now have the chance to increase their lead with less than two minutes left in the first half.
Cooper DeJean gets pick 6 on his birthday
Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean returned an interception for a touchdown midway through the second quarter to give the Eagles a 17-0 lead over the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
DeJean returned it for 38 yards to get a birthday touchdown. He turned 22 years old on Super Bowl Sunday.
Before throwing the interception, Mahomes was sacked twice. He was sacked by Josh Sweat on first down and then Sweat and Jalyx Hunt on second down.
Jake Elliott hits 48 yard FG to give Eagles 10-0 lead
The Eagles took a 10-0 lead after Jake Elliott booted in a 48-yard field goal with 8:42 left in the second quarter.
Elliott hit a 43-yard field goal on fourth-and-three, but a false start penalty moved them back 5 yards.
The Eagles' drive stalled in Chiefs territory after picking up first down.
The Eagles have dominated time of possession so far against Kansas City. They've held the ball for 16 minutes and 24 seconds, while Kansas City has had it for 4:58. The Chiefs have only picked up one first down so far.
Tyler Steen replaces Mekhi Becton
Eagles starting right guard Mekhi Becton has left the game and is getting looked at by trainers on the sideline. The team said he's questionable to return with a knee injury.
Tyler Steen replaced Becton at right guard.
Defense makes another crucial stop
Vic Fangio's unit has answered the call the whole 2024 season, and so far they're doing their best against Mahomes and Kansas City's offense.
After Jalen Hurts' interception early in the second quarter, the defense made them go three-and-out for the second time in the game.
Hurts throws first interception in 10 games
The Eagles had third-and-10 on Kansas City's 34-yard line, but Jalen Hurts made a crucial mistake.
The Chiefs blitzed and Hurts tossed a pass intended for A.J. Brown, but it was intercepted by safety Bryan Cook. It was Hurts' first interception 10 games.
If the Eagles had gotten stopped on third down, Jake Elliott might've been able to boot in a field goal.
Now, the Chiefs will have a chance to answer.
Eagles defense gets big stop
So far, the Eagles' defense has held Mahomes and Kansas City's offense in check.
They've forced them to punt in their first two series to start the game, including the second possession where they went three-and-out.
The Eagles' offense will now have the chance to go up by two scores early in the game.
Jalen Hurts scores first TD of game
Jalen Hurts scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown on the "Brotherly Shove" to take the lead over the Chiefs in the first quarter of the Super Bowl. The Eagles lead the Chiefs, 7-0, with 6:15 left in the first quarter.
A 28-yard pass to wideout Jahan Dotson set up the touchdown. The pass was initially ruled a touchdown, but it was overturned after the officials reviewed the play.
A pass interference call on Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie extended the Eagles' drive after he hit Dallas Goedert on third-and-5.
Eagles get big stop on 3rd down
The Eagles' defense got the Chiefs off the field quickly in their first series against Patrick Mahomes.
Kansas City picked up one first down on the first play of series with an 11-yard pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster, but they only gained 1-yard after that.
The Eagles nearly sacked Mahomes, but he was able to escape pressure and toss an incomplete pass to Marquise "Hollywood" Brown on third-and-9.
Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean then returned a punt for 12 yards to set the Eagles up at their own 31-yard line.
Penalty negates big play on 4th down
The Eagles were aggressive early and went for it on fourth-and-two from the 50-yard line, but a penalty by the officials negated a 30-yard gain by A.J. Brown.
Jalen Hurts tossed a beautiful deep ball to Brown, but the officials called a questionable offensive pass interference. The Eagles then punted the ball deep into Chiefs territory.
Vic Fangio's defense will now get their first taste of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.
Even former Eagles Super Bowl LVP Nick Foles chimed in on the call.
Let the guys play! Come on. Great throw and catch.

Andy Reid faces his former team again
Andy Reid is the winningest coach in Eagles franchise history. He called Philadelphia home for 14 seasons and led one of the most successful eras of the franchise, but he wasn't able to get over the hump and win the Super Bowl.
Reid's Eagles teams won five NFC championships and one Super Bowl, but they lost to the Patriots in 2004. During his time in Philadelphia, Reid went 130-93-1.
Sunday's Super Bowl rematch will be the second time Reid will face the Eagles in the big game after beating Philadelphia in Super Bowl LVII.

What happened in the last Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl?
In Super Bowl LVII, multiple big plays doomed the Birds in their 38-35 loss against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
The biggest play was likely the controversial defensive holding on Eagles cornerback James Bradberrry after he grabbed the jersey of Chiefs wideout Juju Smith-Schuster's jersey.
The call allowed the Chiefs to get a fresh set of downs, drain the clock and boot in the game-winning field goal.

Before that, the Eagles were in the Super Bowl in 2005 and 1981 but lost both times.
