1 Held, 2 More Sought In Violent Yonkers Home Invasion
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Yonkers police had a 42-year-old man in custody late Friday, and were searching for two other suspects, after a violent home invasion.
As WCBS 880's Stephanie Colombini reported, Louis Montes was at the casino Thursday when he got a call from shaken family members.
He said they told him, "Don't come home, we just got robbed."
Montes ignored the order and rushed to his home on Roberts Avenue in Yonkers, Colombini reported. He learned that three men apparently held his teenage sisters, parents, uncle and friend at gunpoint – restraining the adults with zip ties before taking off with valuables.
Montes said security cameras were recently installed at the homes, but he said after the robbery, the landlord said the cameras were not on that day.
"We have signs," Montes said. "It's not like the guys didn't see it -- they just ignored it. So if it's not on, it seems like they knew it wasn't on."
Police believe the house was targeted, but late Friday it was unclear why.
