Yanks Place Kelly Johnson On DL, Call Up Reliever Chris Leroux
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Yankees have placed infielder Kelly Johnson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.
The veteran injured himself trying to beat out a ground ball in the 10th inning of New York's walk-off win over the Rangers on Tuesday night.
He came out of the game and was replaced by Ichiro Suzuki. Johnson was making his first career start in right field.

The 32-year-old, who signed a one-year, $3 million deal in the offseason, is batting .219 with six homers and 22 RBIs. He's started 41 games at third base this season, though Chase Headley -- who was acquired on Tuesday -- was expected to significantly cut into his playing time.
To replace him on the roster, New York has called up right-handed pitcher Chris Leroux from Triple-A. Leroux will pitch out of the bullpen.
The 30-year-old went 2-2 with a 5.08 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yankees also designated right-handed pitcher Bruce Billings for assignment.
Billings appeared in one game for the Bombers -- on April 25 against the Angels -- and allowed four runs in four innings of work, including two homers.
