Woman's Body Found Near L.I. Site Where Missing Mom's Car Was Spotted

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An unidentified woman's body was found in a wooded area on Long Island Thursday evening, close to the scene where a missing 21-year-old mother's car was spotted this past weekend.

Suffolk County police received a 911 call at 6:17 p.m. about a woman's body in the woods off Camden Court in Medford. The body was recovered a short time afterward, police said.

The woman's identity has not been confirmed, police said. Suffolk County Homicide Squad detectives were investigating Thursday evening.

The body was found by a search party made up of friends and family of Sarah Goode of Medford, who has not been seen since Friday night, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

The scene where the body was found within a mile of the spot where an abandoned BMW belonging to Goode was located on Sunday night.

Goode was last seen Friday night at a friend's house in Shirley. She is the mother a 4-year-old girl, and family and friends said it was completely out of character for her to go missing.

There were apparent signs of a struggle inside her car, sources said. One witness also said there appeared to be blood in Goode's vehicle.

As of earlier this week, authorities were reviewing Goode's cell phone use and would not comment on whether she left her friend's house alone when she left Friday.
