Brooklyn Man Faces Murder Charge After Wife Found In Car With Throat Slashed
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Brooklyn man is facing a murder charge after his wife was found dead with her throat slashed.
Officers found 45-year-old Karen Ashley late Tuesday in the driver's seat of her car, which was parked outside her apartment on Blake Avenue in East New York, police said. She was declared dead at the scene.
Beresford Ashley, 55, later surrendered himself, police said. Prosecutors said he told police he believed he had "committed an offense'' and had fought with his wife in front of her apartment, the New York Daily News reported.
He faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He has been ordered jailed without bail.
The husband said nothing as he was escorted out of a precinct building Wednesday.
