Woman Struck, Killed By MTA Bus In Bedford-Stuyvesant
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A woman who got off a city bus in Bedford-Stuyvesant Wednesday was hit and killed by the bus, WCBS 880's Alex Silverman reported.
Witnesses say the woman dropped her phone as she got off the bus at Bedford and Halsey.
"When she dropped her phone, she bent over to get it and the bus pulled off. The front of the bus, it hit her," witness Kindu Allen said.
The bus driver was unaware of the accident and kept driving; witnesses chased him down.
A witness said people told the driver, "you just ran a lady over, you just killed a lady."
"And he's like 'Are you serious?' He got out, he looked and he went into panic mode. He went in shock," the witness said.
Kenny Mitchell says it's an unnecessary loss.
"A cell phone can be replaced. A life can't be replaced," he said.
