It was the latest incident involving Revel scooters. As CBS2 has been reporting, the moped rental company has had a controversial run, with concerns over safety and lawless riding.

In the first seven months of 2020, the city's Department of Transportation said there were 330 crashes with injuries on Revel scooters.

The company shut down temporarily over the summer after three people died in crashes, including CBS2 reporter Nina Kapur. She, like many others involved in crashes, was not wearing a helmet.

Among new safety protocols, Revel now requires users to take a selfie showing they are wearing a helmet. They must also complete a 30-question safety training course.
