NYC Man Pleads Guilty To Stabbing Girlfriend, Hiding Body In Trunk

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Prosecutors say a New York City man who stabbed his girlfriend to death and then hid her bloody body in the trunk of her car has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Thursday that Luis Zambrano could face around 25 years in prison when he's sentenced on April 19.

Angie Escobar's body was found Sept. 10, 2015 in the abandoned car in Whitestone, Queens. The vehicle was parked near 22nd Avenue and Murray Street. The medical examiner determined she had died about four days earlier.

Police responded after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle and said a foul odor was emanating from the trunk.

The indictment said Escobar, a 28-year-old mother of two, was repeatedly stabbed with scissors while trying to end her relationship with the defendant.

Zambrano was arrested in Daleville, Virginia, on Sept. 18.
