Wintry Weather Impacting Some Traffic, Transit Across Tri-State
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A winter storm Monday is impacting some traffic and transit across the Tri-State area.
Amtrak is trimming schedules for its Acela Express and Northeast Regional trains.

Amtrak says passengers should also expect fewer runs than normal on its Keystone Service, from Harrisburg through Philadelphia to New York City.
Amtrak says other trains north of New York City and those south and east of Washington, D.C., will operate normally.
Passengers with reservations on the affected routes were being notified by Amtrak, which will try to place them on other trains.

In New York City, southbound Q subway trains are running local from 34 Street-Herald Square to Canal Street due to the cold weather. Riders should allow for additional travel time.
Alternate side parking is suspended, but drivers still have to pay the meters.
The Long Island Rail Road says station waiting rooms will remain open around-the-clock until closing time Wednesday for customers waiting in the cold.

NJ TRANSIT is operating on a regular weekday schedule.
Rail and bus passengers are advised they could face delays or cancellations because of the snow.
Buses and trains are cross-honoring tickets.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has deployed extra staff to handle the snow at the agencies airports, bridges and tunnels.
In the skies, airlines canceled more than 2,200 flights Monday because of the weather.
The hardest hit cities were Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York and Baltimore.
More than 550 flights to and from New York were canceled Monday, even though the city only got a light dusting of snow. Original forecasts had called for much higher snow totals.
Airlines have canceled more than 87,000 domestic flights since Dec. 1, a record number.
Travelers are advised to check with their airlines for flight delays or cancellations.

State Transportation Department plows and salt spreaders are working to clear major highways.
There are speed restrictions on the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway.
