Winter Weather Comes Early Across Tri-State

NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Today was the coldest day of the season -- with temperatures falling to the upper-20s and lower 30s across the tri-state area this morning.

For many places, it didn't seem to warm up either, with highs nearing the upper 40s and low 50s.

The cold weather had people digging into their closets for their winter weather gear for the first time this season.

"It's freezing," Rober Mocase, of Long Island City, said. "It was much warmer last weekend."

Many are hoping the winter doesn't come too soon, WLNY 1055's Ilana Gold reported.

"I'm actually not ready," Liz Ramamurthy, of New York City, said. "I need to get a coat, I got rid of my coat last year."

Temperatures expected to get even colder tomorrow morning, so if you're heading out, be prepared and bundle up.
