Worker Dies After Being Hit By Brick On Manhattan Scaffold

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A man was killed Monday around noon after a brick fell and hit him on the head while working from scaffolding on a Manhattan building.

Police responded to a 911 call and found a 51-year-old man unconscious at 311 East 50th Street. He was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

Earlier reports identified the man as a window washer, but police say he was actually working to repair the facade of the building.

Police say there was some type of malfunction with the scaffold that then hit the building and caused the debris to fall on the victim.

Identification of the man is pending proper family notification.
