Westchester County Has Salt And Staff On The Ready For Snowstorm
VALHALLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Westchester County is ready for whatever Mother Nature brings this weekend.
A winter storm warning is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday morning for parts of the county, where up to a foot of snow is possible.
County Executive Rob Astorino said they have 1,300 tons of salt, and crews have already applied brine to the roads.

Public Works Commissioner Jay Pisco said crews will be activated before the flakes fly.
"We'll have the trucks out on the road and positioned and then we'll begin plowing the roads and spreading salt," Pisco said.
Astorino is urging common sense on the roads.
"As long as people don't do dopey things, and sometimes people do, if they stay off the roads and they use caution that's when things can get cleaned up quicker," Astorino said.
Extra police will also be on hand.
"We're going to have extra patrols on the parkways with our county police," Astorino said. "We've over-staffed a little bit just because we'd rather be over-prepared than under-prepared."
With heavy winds expected, possible power outages are a concern and the county has been in touch with Con Ed.
"We've already been in contact, they've been adding crews," Astorino said.
The county executive is not expecting flooding, which is a major concern for other parts of the Tri-State area, but Astorino said areas along the Long Island Sound will be watched closely.
