Weekend PATH Service Resumes At Exchange Place, World Trade Center
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- After nearly a year of repairs and signal upgrades, two important PATH stations have resumed weekend service.
The World Trade Center and Exchange Place stations were heavily damaged during Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey said approximately 280,000 square feet of metal tunnel surfaces and equipment were cleaned of salt residue left by Sandy and corroded metal was replaced.
Additional weekend outages are planned in the second half of 2015 on the Journal Square-33rd Street via Hoboken line, along with completion of remaining work on the Newark-to-World TradeCenter line.
