Water Main Break Floods Streets, Disrupts Service On Upper West Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A water main break disrupted service late Monday on the Upper West Side.

The main ruptured at Amsterdam Avenue and 89th Street, officials told CBS2.

Water gushed through the street for from 9:30 p.m. until the main was shut down around 10:40 p.m. officials said.

Amsterdam Avenue was closed late Monday between 86th and 90th streets. There was no flooding of buildings, but there was sidewalk and street flooding.

The Department of Environmental Protection said there were some residents of the area who lost water service. It was not clear how many.

The DEP, as well as the FDNY and Con Edison, were at the scene late Monday.
