Police Search For Missing Teen In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The NYPD wants your help finding a missing teenager in Brooklyn.

Walaa Assaedy, 18, was last seen Thursday at 8 a.m. at Pitkin Avenue and 75th Street in Brooklyn. She had just dropped her little sister off at school and hasn't been seen since.

Walaa is 5'6", has brown eyes and black hair, and was last seen wearing a black hijab and dark clothing.

Family members said the girl has been extremely responsible, but perhaps too sheltered.

So the fact that she's missing with no cell phone -- she doesn't own one -- and little or no cash, worries them sick.

"I can't even imagine what happened. I don't know what happened," her father said.

Thursday morning, she made her routine walk up her block on Drew Street to her sister's elementary school where she made sure her sister got safely inside.

The 18-year-old did not return home.

"She never go out of the home, only with me, her mom, or her brother, that's it," her father said.

He said the detectives who came to his home still had not found useful surveillance video along the shirt trip from the house to the school.

She is 5'6" with brown eyes, black hair, and was wearing all black the last time she was seen.

The teen is dedicated to her family, but had few outside friends. With no technology to track her on, a reunion may hinge on the public reporting something they saw or know.

Her father said it's possible that she is a first time runaway, but own who would likely know far too little about the ways of the outside world.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish. You can also submit a tip via the Crime Stoppers website or by texting a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.

All calls are confidential.
