Wake held for Yonkers Det. Sgt. Frank Gualdino

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Hundreds gathered Tuesday to remember a member of Yonkers law enforcement.

They came from far and wide for the wake of Det. Sgt. Frank Gualdino, who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Tuckahoe Road last week.

Mourners got together to pay their respects at Whelan & Ball Funeral Home. Outside, two firetrucks held a massive American flag. Many motorcycles could also be seen parked in front of the funeral home.

Gualdino was a member of the motorcycle unit. The grief over his loss is being felt by all of Yonkers.

"I think the whole city is mourning the loss of a wonderful person, someone who served our city. My heart goes out to the entire family," resident Justin Tubiolo said.

"Humble, believed in camaraderie to his core. He was a family man and dedicated to both his job and his family," retired cop Bill Celestino added.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. for Gualdino at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers.

CBS2 will carry the funeral on our streaming service CBS News New York.
