Police Search For Man In Violent Attempted Robbery In Astoria

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are on the hunt for a suspect in connection with a violent attempted robbery in Queens.

The attack happened in the vicinity of 40th Avenue and 9th Street in Astoria.

It was around 6 a.m. on Oct. 28 when police said the suspect approached two women, ages 22 and 37, and demanded their bags and money.

Authorities said when they refused, the suspect hit them in the head with an unknown object, injuring them both.

The man then fled on foot, but did not get any of the victim's property.

Police said although the victims were injured, they did not go to the hospital.

Officials released two surveillance photos of the suspect with the hope that someone will recognize him and come forward with information.
