Search Continues For Suspect Wanted In Deadly Shooting In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search continues for a man who police say is wanted for a deadly daytime shooting in the Bronx that was caught on video.
It happened around 8:40 a.m. Thursday on Westchester Avenue by East 152nd Street in the Melrose section.
In the surveillance video, a man wearing dark shorts, a black and grey shirt and a black hat can be seen walking up behind the victim and taking aim with a weapon.
Police said the man then shot the victim, later identified as 40-year-old Luis Garcia, in the head.
Officers found Garcia unconscious and unresponsive just two blocks from his home. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
One man who lives nearby was shocked to hear about the shooting, considering it happened in broad daylight.
"It's just horrible," resident David Arthur said. "Nobody should have to deal with our community being this way — people shooting up people all the time."
At this point, it's unclear why Garcia was targeted. Investigators have scoured the neighborhood looking for the suspect.
