Listen: Victor Cruz Tells Mike Francesa 'Winning Cures All'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- After another quiet week out of the Giants -- this time in Green Bay -- fans are wondering when their 'electric' offense will turn things on.

Speaking with WFAN's Mike Francesa on Tuesday, Giants receiver Victor Cruz said the keys to putting points on the board will be finding a way to protect Eli Manning, and beatinggo the cover 2 defense the team has been seeing.

"I think they did a good job of playing a cover 2 style coverage, cover 2 wild if you will, and keeping us to the sideline," Cruz said. "Keeping the outside receivers to the sideline, and not letting us get inside and making any of those big plays."

The team has been seeing a lot of two-deep looks, which is expected thanks to a trio of explosive receivers. For the Giants offense, beating the system might mean mixing things up.

"Continue to move us around. Continue to put us inside, outside, to mix up the plays and mix up the personnel so that they can't get a beat on it," Cruz said.

It could also mean using more overload sets.

"Teams when they, when we're on opposite ends it's easy for teams to just sit back and play cover 2 and keep us in front of them. If two of us or three of us are on one side and overload, kind of flood that side. It's hard to cover all three of us on one side," he said.

Cruz added that it was also essential to protect Manning.

"You have to keep him comfortable and upright back there for him to be able to make those decisions and read the coverages," he said.

Francesa then inquired about the situation in the locker room -- particularly as it pertained to first year head coach Ben McAdoo, Odell Beckham Jr.'s recent antics, and a post-game incident involving Ereck Flowers.

"I think everything is okay... Obviously, the Odell stuff is behind us in my opinion now, and the Ereck Flowers situation is just something that he shouldn't have done it obviously, in the grand scheme of things, but obviously anything gets blown up when you're in New York City," he said.

Cruz added that even at 2-3 after the first 5 games, the team's goals are still very much in front of them and that 'winning cures all.'
