US Marine Corps marks 248th birthday with celebration on USS Intrepid

NEW YORK -- There was a big bash aboard the USS Intrepid on Wednesday.

The celebration marked the United States Marine Corps' 248th birthday.

The gala was hosted by Jim Axelrod of CBS News and featured a performance by the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.

Several awards were handed out along with, of course, cake.
