4 People Injured In Upper East Side Apartment Building Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A fire on the Upper East Side pulled tenants from their beds and out onto the street Thursday morning.

The three-alarm fire broke out around 6 a.m. in the basement of a five-story apartment building on Second Avenue between East 94th and 95th streets. Flames later spread to the first floor.

Residents woke to the smell of smoke and got out.

Four people, including two firefighters, suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
