Police: Man Jumps Into East River After Trespassing On United Nations Property
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police say they are unsure what happened to an intruder on United Nations property who disappeared after climbing over a wall and jumping into the East River.
The New York Police Department says officers responded to a Saturday morning call from UN security workers about an emotionally disturbed man who had gotten onto the property.
WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reported the man eluded arrest twice and jumped from a wall three stories above the FDR Drive. He then jumped into the East River near East 42nd Street.
Divers searched the river but did not find the man.
The NYPD says a search will likely resume Sunday.
