Trump's Childhood Home In Jamaica Estates To Hit Auction Block At $849,000

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- It's not Trump Tower. But Donald Trump's first boyhood home is a charming two-story Tudor-style home in Queens.

Now, the house in Jamaica Estates is going on the auction block Wednesday evening, with an opening bid of $849,000.

Trump lived in the home --a Tudor on Wareham Place, built in 1940 by his developer father Fred Trump -- until he was 4 years old. The family then moved to another house on Midland Parkway, also built by his dad.

The brick-and-stucco home has five bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, an enclosed rear porch and a detached, 2-car garage. The 3,600-square-foot house also features a finished basement with a second kitchen.

According to a listing on StreetEasy, the Wareham Place home is valued on the market at $1,399,000. It was previously listed in June by Laffey Fine Homes with a value of $1,650,000.

An auction listing from Paramount Realty USA states that the bidding price starts at nearly 50 percent of the original asking price.

Jamaica Estates is an upper middle class enclave of one-family Tudor, Victorian and Colonial style homes.
