Tropical Depression Ophelia forms off East Coast. Here's the forecast for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut

First Alert Forecast: Yellow Alert on Sunday as Ophelia's impact lingers

Tracking Ophelia

After making landfall early Saturday morning in North Carolina, as of the 8 p.m. update, Ophelia has been downgraded to a tropical depression.

As Ophelia slowly moves north, effects will still be felt across our area through Sunday, though, which is why we have a Yellow Alert in place for tomorrow.

Waves of heavy rain will continue to move through the area, with gusty winds as well. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible. Winds should gradually come down a bit by early Sunday morning, not getting to the levels seen Saturday.

Coastal flooding is likely to be less of an issue on Sunday as well. However, some coastal flooding may still occur.

Rough surf and a high risk of rip currents remains in place, with waves up to 10 feet.

So far, 1-3-plus inches of rain has fallen, and an additional 1-3 inches is expected.

Damp, raw, and cool conditions will prevail.

Lows tonight will be in the 50s, while Sunday will see highs in the low to mid 60s.
