Tim Tebow Nearly Nails BCS National Championship Prediction

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Question his quarterbacking skills all you want. But when it comes to college football, Tim Tebow knows his stuff.

The former Heisman Trophy winner came within a point of predicting the final score of Monday's thrilling BCS National Championship Game during his television debut for ESPN.

"Auburn might be a team of destiny, but tonight, Florida State is deeper from top to bottom," Tebow said. "(With) Jameis Winston and Telvin Smith's leadership in the fourth quarter, I think they win 35-31."

Well, guess what? Florida State won 34-31, thanks to a 2-yard Winston touchdown pass with 13 seconds left in the game.

On top of that, Tebow was just a taunting penalty away -- the Seminoles were flagged after a score in the fourth quarter that prevented them from going for the two-point conversion -- from completely nailing the outcome.

ESPN announced in December that Tebow, who hasn't taken a regular-season snap since his time with the Jets, would help launch the SEC Network later this year. The 26-year-old insists he's not done trying to make it in the NFL despite his new gig.
