Terry Bradshaw On WFAN: I Would 'Easily' Take Big Ben Over Eli
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger will forever be linked. Their careers will forever be compared.
Both players are superstar quarterbacks and the faces of their respective franchises. Both men were selected in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. (Manning was taken first overall; Roethlisberger was taken 11th.) Both signal-callers are two-time Super Bowl champions.
Yeah, lots of similarities there.
So on Wednesday, WFAN co-host Evan Roberts asked Terry Bradshaw a question that has been debated for years: "If you had to pick one to start a team, which one would you go with?"
Roberts didn't even finish asking the question before he got an answer.
"Ben Roethlisberger, for sure," the Hall of Famer told Joe & Evan in his weekly spot. "He's big, he's strong, he knocks off tackles ... Eli has just been amazing in the big game. But if you look, when the pressure gets around Eli, (Tom) Brady, Peyton (Manning), they collapse. They fall down. Big Ben shoves them off, pushes them off, knocks them down, gets out and makes plays. He's so big and strong; accurate, big-time arm, smart guy.
"I easily would take Roethlisberger."
Manning has completed 64.9 percent of his passes for the 3-4 Giants, passing for 1,573 yards and throwing 14 touchdowns to five interceptions.
Roethlisberger has completed 68.4 percent of his passes for the 5-3 Steelers, passing for 2,380 yards and throwing 16 touchdowns to three interceptions.
