Teenager shot in the chest in the Bronx
NEW YORK -- A teenager was shot in the chest in the Bronx on Saturday, causing terrifying moments aboard an MTA bus.
It happened just before 6 p.m. near Metcalf Avenue and Story Avenue in the Soundview section.
Detectives were on the scene for hours, looking at surveillance video and talking with passengers on the bus, trying to figure out who shot the teenager and why.
Police say they responded to a 911 call for a person shot.
We're told there was some sort of commotion on the Bx5 bus while dozens of passengers were on board, but what happened next remains under investigation.
Police say at some point, a teen was shot and rush to a local hospital in stable condition.
It's unclear if the shot was fired on or off the bus.
A single shell casing could be seen on one of the steps at the rear exit of the bus.
According to the MTA, no passengers on the bus were hurt.
A spokesperson tells CBS2 the bus operator moved the bus about 200 feet after the incident to ensure passengers would be safe.
The teenager remains in the hospital.
