Suspicious Truck Parked Near Barron Trump's School Cleared By Authorities
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities were investigating a suspicious truck found parked in front of a school on the Upper West Side on Monday morning.
The truck was was found in front of the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School on W. 93rd Street, where Barron Trump, the son of President Donald Trump, attends.
Administrators at the school noticed an old, beat-up pick-up truck parked outside of a nearby building. Students were not allowed to leave the school after officials said they spotted a green military bag inside the pickup truck that appeared suspicious, CBS2's Hazel Sanchez reported.
School administrators called the police, who responded to the scene.
The bomb squad was called as a precaution, authorities said.
The bomb squad examined the bag from a distance, and determined the bag was not a dangerous device, authorities said.
During the investigation, 93rd Street and Central Park West between 92nd and 94th Streets were shut down until the truck was towed from the scene.
Police were able to locate the owner of the truck, which had out-of-state license plates that didn't match the truck.
It was not immediately clear if the owner of the truck would receive violations.
School administrators could not confirm if Trump was in school today.
