Suspect Wanted In String Of Bank Robberies In 3 Different Boroughs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were asking the public to help identify a suspect wanted in a string of bank robberies from Lower Manhattan to the Bronx and Queens.

The suspect was wanted in connection with eight bank robberies – in TriBeCa, the Lower East Side, Union Square and Murray Hill in Manhattan; Fordham Manor in the Bronx; and Flushing in Queens – between Jan. 25 and March 29.

The robberies happened at the following dates, times and locations:

• Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11:02 a.m., at the Chase Bank at 101 Barclay St. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, and the teller handed over an unspecified sum;

• Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11:45 a.m., at the Popular Bank at 134 Delancey St. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, and the teller handed over an unspecified sum;

• Saturday, Feb. 22, at 12:22 p.m., at the Capital One Bank at 245 E. 34th St. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, and the teller handed over an unspecified sum;

• Friday, Feb. 28, around 3 p.m., at the Capital One Bank at 151 E. Fordham Rd. in the Bronx. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, and the teller handed over an unspecified sum;

• Saturday, March 8, around 12:20 p.m., at the Chase Bank at 69 Fifth Ave. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, and the teller handed over an unspecified sum;

• Saturday, March 8, at 12:23 p.m., at the Citibank at 79 Fifth Ave. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, but the teller refused and the suspect left emptyhanded;

• Monday, March 10, around 10 a.m., at the Flushing Savings Bank at 136-41 Roosevelt Ave. in Queens. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, and the teller handed over an unspecified sum;

• Saturday, March 29, around 1 p.m., again at the Popular Community Bank at 134 Delancey St. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money using a note, but the teller did not comply and the suspect left.

The suspect was described as a black male about 25 years old, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white Air Jordan logo, sunglasses, and a gray and black ski cap with "New York" embroidered on it.
